The Geneva Motor Show is one of the world's most coveted shows on the international motoring calendar. With big name makers such as Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and many more vying to showcase their most exciting and innovative machines, there's no shortage of choices for the 10 we've hand-picked as the ones you need to know about.

Bentley's EXP 10 Speed 6 concept previews a new design direction.

McLaren 675LT

The 675LT is McLaren's latest road-legal performance car to roll out of the Woking factory. It sees a substantial boost in power and reduction in weight to establish its trackside credentials. The 'LT' moniker stands for Long Tail – a nod to McLaren's British GT Championship-contending F1 GTR racer of 1997.

Body-wise, the 675LT receives the same aerodynamic treatment with an elongated rear airbrake that's a whopping 50 per cent larger than the 650S model it's based on. Listen in the video above to its 497kW derived from the 3.8-litre twin turbo V8, and further bolstered by exotic go-fast bits such as a full titanium exhaust.

Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept

One of the biggest suprises to come out of the show was Bentley's jaw-dropping concept that pushes the brand's design language to exciting new places. Finished in British Racing Green, the low-slung vehicle merges classic Bentley cues such as the long hood, short deck combo into one aesthetically balanced package. Even the way the doors open is a sight to behold - that is, until you reach the exquisite interior where you're greeted with tan quilted Poltrona Frau leather on the seats and doors. Engine specs are non-existent for now.

2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The RS badge from Porsche carries with it a revered reputation for relentless performance without compromise. The 2016 variant of this famed race car for the road is no different, as you can probably tell by the massive rear quarter air ducts and fixed wing. What's it packing, you ask?

Just Porsche's largest displacement and most powerful naturally aspirated motor in the 911 lineage. That's about 373kW of power and 460Nm of torque from the 4.0-litre flat-six, all mated to a newly developed version of Porsche's PDK dual-clutch gearbox to get you from 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds.

2016 Audi R8

The second generation of Audi's hero car has arrived with much fanfare. The unmistakably German designed, mid-engined sports car now breathes with a new heart in the form of a 5.2-litre V10 that sees 403kW of power and 540Nm of torque driving all four wheels via Audi's Quattro system. Aesthetically, the car is more angular and the lines a lot cleaner than its predecessor. A 'V10 Plus' model will also be on offer for those craving uber-power. Schnell!

Lamborghini Aventador SV

Showing your age doesn't mean things need to slow down. This is especially true for Lamborghini's maturing Aventador, which now comes in the LP 750-4 Superveloce guise. In case you were wondering, 'Superveloce' roughly translates to 'stupidly fast' in Italian and to prove this point, the mad scientists from Sant'Agata have managed to squeeze 552kW of power and 690Nm of torque out of the Aventador's already highly-strung 6.5-litre V12. Watch the video to see what that looks like.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale

The final, they call it. That's what happens after 10 years in production, and when it does comes time to call it quits and you're Bugatti, you go out with a bang. In the French carmaker's own language, this means 882kW worth of bang. It doesn't come cheap, either, sitting at around $2.6 million. Though what you do get is an upgraded quad-turbo charged W16 engine (yes, that's 16 cylinders) that will get you to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds before maxing out at 408km/h.

Mercedes Benz G500 4×4 Squared

If you're after a luxury truck that doesn't look like a truck, we present to you the Mercedes G500 4×4². The G500 gets a newer version of the AMG motor used in the G63 off-roader. Under the hood is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 315kW of power and 610Nm of torque. If you're mulling over the fact that this is not a real off-roader, you'd be wrong. The car is capable of entering water up to a metre in depth and can traverse inclines of 53 degrees. Gnarly.

Koenigsegg Regera

Joining the hybrid supercar movement is Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg. Its latest Regera marries the traditional 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the Agera to a new plug-in hybrid system consisting of electric motors that generate 522kW alone. Do the maths and you get a combined rating upwards of 1100kW. In a 1600kg car. Which can hit 400km/h. Insane. There will only be 80 examples made.

2015 Morgan Aero 8

Morgan is one of the only car companies in the world that still uses wood in its chassis construction. The 2015 Aero 8 for Geneva sees an update to the existing model with revised aerodynamics, suspension, limited-slip diff and torsional rigidity. Exterior-wise, the car receives a new convertible option allowing the driver to enjoy the 4.8-litre BMW V8 noise in nostalgic class and elegance.

Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Special Edition

The Vantage has served the British marque well over the years in road guise, but in 2015 it has done something special with it. The company has taken the decade-old platform and injected some serious mojo to get it prepped for GT3 racetrack duties. The result is beautifully intimidating, to say the least. Thumbing its nose at all that hybrid nonsense, Aston Martin has stuffed the car with its long-serving 6.0-litre V12 tuned to output 441kW of power. Check out what this carbon-fibre-clad beast can do in the video.
