Ten cool Father's Day gifts

By Luc Wiesman

Buying Father's Day presents is never an easy thing. More often than not dads will receive a lifetime supply of ugly socks and hammers. Well, we're here to give you some inspiration to get Dad something he actually might use this year. Some expensive, some very cheap, but there should be something for every dad in this list.

1. Moleskine Wine Journal

Keep track of all that plonk with the uber cool series of wine journals from Moleskine. It comes with six theme-based sections to fill in: Sparkling, White, Rosè, Red, Fortified/Sweet, and Spirits, six tabbed sections to personalise, and 10 blank pages in which to insert comments and notes.

Price: $29

2. Reidel Whisky Glasses

Possibly one of the best glassware brands on the market have brought out this super cool and well designed set of whisky glasses. The Reidel O series has revolutionised glassware and is a must-have for any dad who enjoys a dram or three.

Price: $44

3. Drakes Knitted Tie

Do away with daggy ties and get your cool dad into a knitted tie from Drakes. They're my personal favourite and are a must for any man who wears a suit. We've chosen a rather fetching light blue colour but you can decide which colour best suits your old man.

Price: $94

4. London Undercover Umbrella

This wouldn't be the first time I've recommended a quality umbrella as a quality gift. London Undercover come highly recommended. Available in a range of sizes and styles, a London Undercover brolly is a quality gift for any Dad.

Price: $100

5. Bose In-ear Headphones

For the Dad who likes to run or listen to music we recommend getting him a pair of Bose MIE2i earphones. They offer tonally balanced sound with crisp highs and deep low notes, and durable construction designed for the rigours of on-the-go listening.

Price: $129

6. Alfred Dunhill Chassis Wash Bag

A father without a quality washbag is like a something without a something it needs. The Alfred Dunhill Chassis series is probably one of the best grooming gifts you could give your Dad. It comes in a simple black finish, is water-resistant and has a durable leather outer.

Price: $245

7. The James Bond Archives

If your Dad fancies himself a bit of a secret agent then get him this great book from Taschen, The James Bond Archives. To celebrate 50 years of Bond, EON Productions opened their archives of photos, designs and storyboards. A must-have for the Bond fan.

Price: $140

8. Edge of Belgravia Ceramic Knives

One of my favourite gifts are these Edge of Belgravia Onyx Ceramic Knives. Ceramic blades are second to diamond in hardness, making these knives tireless kitchen companions. Sold individually, they're the perfect gift that you can build upon each year.

Price: $55

9. Orlebar Brown Bulldog Shorts

Instead of having to see your father rock around in budgie smugglers, do yourself a favour and get him a pair of the ultra cool Orlebar Brown Bulldog swim shorts. They're neither too short nor too long, are well made and will be perfect on the beach this summer.

Price: $180

10. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Voyager Scotch Whisky

A timeless classic. The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Voyager Commemorative Release Scotch Whisky is a limited edition that has been designed to commemorate the epic journey of traditional 19th century whiskies, the first of which were exported to Australia in the 1860s. A perfect companion for the Reidel Whisky Glasses.
