Forget the headlines and the polls, nothing can herald the dawn of a new era - or the arrival of a new prime minister - quite like social media.
Instagram to be precise.
Our former prime minister Tony Abbott didn't have Howard's eyebrows, or Keating's charisma.
But he did have an appetite.
So social media found a way to revere Mr Abbott via his culinary exploits.
To thousands of followers, the Instagram account Tony Abbott Eats (@tonyabbotteats) glorified Mr Abbott eating a hotdog; Mr Abbott licking an ice cream; Mr Abbott sipping tea; Mr Abbott scoffing a scone; Mr Abbott eating a banana and of course Mr Abbott eating two raw onions, skin and all.
But the menu has changed.
And there is no need to rely on a man's diet for distraction, when a debonair gentleman by the likes of Malcolm Turnbull has taken the Prime Minister's chair.
Hence, @tonyabbotteats ceases to exit.
The Instagram account now appropriately goes by the name Hot Malcolm, @hotmalcolm.
"Malcolm Turnbull looking handsome. You also think he's a bit hot. Stop denying it. RIP @tonyabbotteats. Occasional throwbacks for the fans," the account's introduction reads.
By midday on Wednesday, the renewed account was boasting 2624 followers.
