Four Seasons and Rene Redzepi join forces for a jetset food flight

Flush foodies, this one's for you. Four Seasons will fly you around the globe on their private jet, visiting the world's culinary hotspots and staying in uber-luxury hotels, for $US135,000 ($183,600). And while that may sound like a lot of dosh, what you are getting is literally the trip of a lifetime.

The luxury hotelier has just announced a new Four Seasons Tour taking off next year that is designed specifically for food lovers.

Developed in partnership with Noma Copenhagen and curated by Rene Redzepi, the Culinary Discoveries tour tracks the evolution of food, culture and creativity, right across Asia and Europe.

Global gourmets

The tour runs from May 27 to June 14 and gets you up close and personal with the people, places and produce that are revolutionising the world's culinary landscape.

Highlights include a farm-to-table dinner in Seoul with Korean chef Jong Kuk Lee; foraging with Namae Shinobu and dinner at his Michelin-starred Tokyo restaurant; a visit to the food markets with Hong Kong's finest chefs; an elephant trek through a Thai hill tribe village followed by a hands-on cooking class; preparing Indian food in Mumbai with former Noma chef Garima Arora; meeting with wine makers Tenuta di Valgiao at their medieval estate in Florence; a food tour of Lisbon led by Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes; a private dinner at the exclusive Noma Copenhagen; and a farewell dinner at the Michelin-starred Le Cinque at Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris.

Five star flying

It's not all food related activities either. The Tokyo leg of the tour includes attending a Giants baseball game, and taking a sword fighting lesson from Tetsuro Shimagushi: the bloke who choreographed the sword-fighting sequences in Tarantino's Kill Bill.

Limited to just 52 lucky punters, accommodation is five-star all the way, both on the ground and in the air. Four Seasons will be using their custom-fitted Boeing 757 to hop from country to country. We'd be happy just staying on the plane. Not only does it look the goods in its sexy black livery, it comes equipped with electronically controlled flatbed seats that have been handcrafted in Italy; an on-demand entertainment system, and free-to-take-home iPads and Bose noise-cancelling headphones.

Meals are prepared by an on-board Four Seasons executive chef. There's no mention of what he, or she will be serving you, but we'd have to assume it's a cut above the usual airline fare. Want something cold to wash down your meal? It's Dom Perignon vintage all the way baby.
