Maserati found at service station
Sgt Jason Owen from Melbourne CIU speaks with Neil Mitchell as to why the stolen Maserati received such wide attention.
A stolen $300,000 Italian sports car has been found at the back of a service station in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
The silver 2012 model GTS Maserati had been parked at the Blue Planet Carwash on City Road about 11am on Monday before thieves sped off with it.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said it was believed the keys were left in the car at the time it was taken.
The vehicle was eventually found at a service station on Fitzgerald Road in Laverton North, reportedly in good condition.
Owner of Blue Planet Carwash, Alfonso Jimenez, said he was ‘‘absolutely delighted that the car has been found’’.
"In 15 years of operation this has never happened before. Things are changing, and we just have to be extremely vigilant nowadays," he said.
Police have released security camera footage and images of two men they believe may be able to help with their investigation into the theft, and are urging anyone who recognises the men or who has any further information to contact Crime Stoppers.
