Authorities have given Donald Trump permission to expand the site of a luxury golf resort he is building on a stretch of Scottish coast despite fierce opposition from local residents.
The Aberdeenshire council voted on Tuesday to allow Trump to develop an extra 20 hectares surrounding the proposed site if he can persuade the people living there to sell the land.
One resident, Michael Forbes, has been a vocal opponent of Trump's plans to build the STG1 billion ($1.9 billion) golf course on a stretch of Scottish coast. Another resident, David Milne, also says he will not sell his property to Trump.
Trump said he hoped to negotiate with the property owners.
