The weather is heating up and pretty soon you won't be able to leave the house without some protection.
El-cheapo sunglasses can potentially damage your retinas and inevitably end up falling apart at the hinges, so it's worth considering an investment pair.
The main men's styles to look for this summer include amber tortoiseshell frames, blue or green lenses, chunky geometric square shapes, retro round frames or classic Wayfarers, according to sunglass guru Emma Guest from luxury retailer OnePointSevenFour.
"Men in particular are starting to take more notice of quality materials," says Guest. "It's like a nice watch. They want something that's really beautifully made."
Sunglasses from Japan are in high demand, with attention to detail and quality at a premium. "Also, sunglasses made from materials like titanium, or that are hand-made, not machine-made junk," Guest explains. "Men want something with a really good fit, in a bespoke style that's not mainstream."
While many men might have a pair of Ray-Bans in the back of the cupboard, others are chasing a pair of shades that won't be seen anywhere else.
"Guys will do their research, and they will wait to pre-order the right pair, and look for a back-story – more and more they want sunglasses with a story to tell."
